NME x Squarespace: ReBuild Music — The Origin of Bassline Symphony

OCT 24, 2021

Staging the world’s first “Bassline Symphony”

In October 2021, Vital Culture UK was selected as one of NME and Squarespace's ReBuild Music winners — chosen to develop the concept for what would become Bassline Symphony.

Founder Tanya Vital pitched the idea of staging the world's first orchestral bassline show, inspired by watching 1Xtra's Grime Symphony at the Royal Albert Hall — and asking why Northern music hadn't received the same treatment.

Four years later, Bassline Symphony sold out St George's Hall in Bradford with 1,500+ audience members and a 45-piece Opera North orchestra.
